Before and After School Programming
Success Zone is the youth component of FBISD's Community Education Program.
Our basketball class is designed for students interested in learning the fundamental skills and rules of basketball. Instruction will focus on the proper mechanics of dribbling, passing, shooting, and rebounding. The class combines skill development drills with game-like situations to improve physical fitness, foster teamwork, and enhance overall game understanding in a fun and educational environment. Students of all experience levels are welcome to participate!
● Skill Block 2: Cone dribbling relays + zigzag dribbles
● Mini Game: Red light / green light dribbling
● Game Play: 3v3 half-court scrimmage with dribbling focus
● Wrap-Up: Review control and confidence
● Mini Game: Keep-away (3v1 → 4v2)
● Game Play: 4v4 with “3 passes before shooting” rule
● Wrap-Up: Reflection on teamwork
● Mini Game: Knockout shooting
● Game Play: 3v3 half-court, with passing requirement before shot
● Wrap-Up: Free-throw competition
● Mini Game: “Around the World” layup challenge
● Game Play: 4v4 scrimmage; layups only score
● Wrap-Up: High-five circle & reflections
● Mini Game: Sharks & Minnows with defensive slides
● Game Play: 5v5 half-court; track steals & deflections
● Wrap-Up: Highlight best defensive plays
● Mini Game: Rebound wars (2v2; first to five rebounds wins)
● Game Play: 4v4 scrimmage with “extra point for rebound before score”
● Wrap-Up: Reflection circle
● Mini Game: 3v3 with screens
● Game Play: 5v5 with offensive concepts focus
● Wrap-Up: Highlight teamwork plays
● Mini Game: Transition races
● Game Play: 5v5 with transition scoring theme
● Wrap-Up: Reflection on hustle & speed
● Mini Game: Shooting contests (Knockout, Around the World)
● Game Play: Full-court referee scrimmage with rotating teams
