About Success Zone

Success Zone is an after-school enrichment program that offers students from across the district and community a unique opportunity to explore new talents, develop valuable skills, and expand their knowledge through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The program offers a wide variety of courses in areas such as arts and crafts, culinary, dance, fine arts, languages, STEM, and more. To support this mission, we partner with businesses in the community to create a dynamic and enriching learning environment for our students. No matter what your child’s interests are, we are sure you’ll find a class that your child will enjoy!

Registration for Fall 2026 classes is now open and will close September 7 at 11:59 pm. To explore our course offerings, click Fall 2026 Success Zone Courses. We are currently collaborating with our partners to add programs to the following campuses: Armstrong, Drabek, Goodman, Heritage Rose, Hunters Glen, Lantern Lane, Oyster Creek, and Parks. Basketball
Colony Meadows

Our basketball class is designed for students interested in learning the fundamental skills and rules of basketball. Instruction will focus on the proper mechanics of dribbling, passing, shooting, and rebounding. The class combines skill development drills with game-like situations to improve physical fitness, foster teamwork, and enhance overall game understanding in a fun and educational environment. Students of all experience levels are welcome to participate! Each student will receive a T-shirt. Week Skill Focus Activities & Games 1 Introduction to basketball, safety, athletic stance, ball familiarity Ball handling exploration, dribble freeze, basketball relays 2 Basic dribbling with dominant hand Red light/green light dribbling, cone dribbles, shark attack dribble game 3 Control the ball Crossover dribbles, changing speed and direction 4 Passing partners Chest pass, bounce pass, teamwork 5 Shoot for success Proper shooting form and layup introduction 6 Defense win games Defensive stance, movement, guarding space 7 Rebound and hustle Rebounding, boxing out, effort plays 8 Team play time Offensive spacing, moving without the ball 9 Game ready Review all skills, basketball rules, scrimmage preparation 10 Basketball showcase Full game play, tournament, skills celebration

Sewing
Colony Bend

Discover the fun and creativity of sewing in this hands-on class designed for beginners! Students will learn essential sewing skills, including threading needles, tying knots, creating basic stitches, and following simple patterns. As their confidence grows, they will apply these techniques to create a variety of projects to take home and enjoy. Week Lesson 1 Safety talk and rules (needles, pins, scissors, workspace, etc.) Learning the dos and don’ts on the sewing machine. Each child will be given their own sketch book. 2 Learn how to thread a needle and tie a knot. (Practice with yarn and plastic needles). Work on a sketch. Learn how to sew on a machine. 3 Hand sewing. Work on a sketch and learning the variations of fabric along with cutting out patterns. 4 Stitch sewing on the sewing machine. Sew along pre-drawn lines, curves, and corners. 5-9 Prior week’s 1-4 will roll into weeks 5-9 along with sewing and designing. 10 Sewing design presentation.

Unlike your typical chess program, our primary focuses are good sportsmanship and fun. That being the case, our students continue to win state championships year after year.
