Join this invention packed class where problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity will be challenged with time-based challenges. Kids will collaborate, construct, test, succeed, and fail to solve problems that stretch their minds and reinforce hands-on science and engineering principles.

Semester at a Glance

Week Challenge name Description
1 Build a Cookie Crane Design a simple lever style crane and one that uses a pulley. A mechanical winder will make your crane even better!
2 Paddle Boat Design a paddle boat that uses Elastic Energy to power it. This boat will convert elastic potential energy to kinetic energy to make it move!
3 Balloon Car Students will construct a freestyle balloon powered car. They will use the scientific process to design and redesign their cars so they can go the farthest distance possible.
4 Hex bug Maze Students will build and create mazes and obstacles for their Hex bugs.
5 Marble Machine Put your engineering skills to the test to see if you can build a machine powered by nothing but gravity that will automatically sort out two different sizes of plastic sphere.
6 Art Bot Create your own Art Bot, a robot with markers for "legs" that wobbles across a piece of paper, creating drawings as it moves.
7 Courageous Cave Rescue Use the STEAM building steps to design a Water Rescue Ride that uses flowing water to transport plastic beads to safety.
8 Paper Ball Challenge In this engineering challenge, you will build a ball run from paper and tape, but there's a twist! You want to make your ball run as slow as possible.
9 Wild and Wacky Cheese chase Use creative and artistic skills to design and decorate a Cooper’s Hill cheese chase inspired Plinko board.
10 Hurricane Harbor Design and build a wacky Wind turbine.
