Clara’s Nutcracker Ballet

Join us for a 10-week Nutcracker adventure! Dancers will learn ballet techniques and several parts of the Nutcracker including Party Guest, Mice, Soldiers, Candy Canes and more. They will explore the story through mazes, matching games and Clara’s escape room. The session concludes with a mini-Nutcracker performance for families, complete with costumes and props. Week Ballet Lesson
1 Learn the story of the Nutcracker. Work at ballet barre on positions of feet, pliés, tendus and grand battements. Have fun with parachute.
2 Learn the role of Party Guest, with a nutcracker to dance with. Continue with ballet barre work, adding piqués, play game to Refreeze the Land of the Snowflakes.
3 Learn the role of Mice and Soldiers Continue with ballet barre work, play game in the Land of Sweets to recognize familiar Nutcracker music.
4 Review roles of Party Guest, Mice and Soldiers. Continue with ballet barre work adding rond de jambé, play game to Restore The Sugar Plum Fairy’s Sparkle.
5 Learn role of Snow Angel. Continue with ballet barre work, adding arabesque balance. Use balancing pods for balance and turns.
6 Learn role of Polichinele. Continue with ballet barre work, play game of Guess Who Word Mazes, to solve Clara’s dream.
7 Learn role of Candy Cane. Continue with ballet barre work, adding passé balance. Play game of Mama Ginger’s Messed Up Gingerbreads.
8 Review all roles and work on mini Nutcracker performance. Receive Land of Sweets Hero Award for completing Clara’s Escape Room. Parachute fun.
9 Prepare for final Nutcracker performance. Have hula hoop fun.
10 Mini Nutcracker Performance. Our parents will come to see our performance complete with costumes, props and a playbill!
