    Does your child LOVE to cook? Do you have a picky eater? This introductory level food literacy program teaches simple cooking techniques, food origins, seasonal recipes, and kitchen safety while having hands-on fun! Students gain self- confidence and priceless life skills while reinforcing core academics. Each session brings a different themed syllabus. This class can accommodate nut allergies. Instructors are professionally trained classroom educators, chefs, or nutritionists. We will accommodate nut allergies only.     Little Ballerz Basketball is an educational services after-school program aimed at teaching young people important life skills and key fundamentals for basketball.     Come serve it up with TGA Premier Youth Tennis! TGA’s curriculum includes games, drills and physical fitness activities that improve motor skills, agility, and hand-eye coordination. Every TGA class focuses on academic concepts developed by educational experts, the rules and etiquette of tennis and skill development. Our goal is to not only develop our student’s tennis skills, but to give children the building blocks for future achievement on the tennis court and in life. All equipment will be provided.     Playing guitar—or any instrument—has a calming effect on the mind and body, it’s often said that music can soothe the soul. Simply listening to music has many benefits but learning to play an instrument can be even more beneficial. Playing a musical instrument is a brilliant way to express yourself and really focus on something you love. Semester at a Glance Week Skills Lesson/Activity 1 Guitar Basics Students will get familiar with the guitar and learn how to hold and tune their guitar. 2 Naming all the Parts of a Guitar Students will learn all the vocabulary and terms related to the guitar. 3 Strumming, Picking, Strings 1-6 Students will learn how to strum the guitar using their fingers/pick. 4 “Quite Guitars” and “Table Top” Students will learn how to quiet their guitar and how to place their guitar on their lap. 5 Playing Strings 1-6 Students will play along with the instructor as the instructor calls out the numbers of each individual string. 6 Song Introduction A new song will be introduced to the students along with various key stroke warmups. 7 Playing Students will play various songs. 8 Song Selection for Recital Students will decide which song they would like to focus on for their recital performance. 9 Practice for Recital Students will continue to practice for their recital performance. 10 Recital Day Parents will be invited to the last class to see their child’s performance.
  • Mad Science

    Put on your lab coats and get ready to STEM with Mad Science. Our goal is to make science fun, relatable and easy to learn! Every week we will explore a different science topic with experiments and exciting discussions that will be guided by a specially trained Mad Scientist. Semester at a Glance Week Theme Lesson/Activity 1 Dry Ice Capades Students manipulate matter in all of its three states! They melt metal in boiling water and freeze water with just a breath of dry ice! They watch metal become liquid, and see water become a solid as dry ice sublimates - going straight from a solid to a gas! 2 Slime Time Kids ooze into a gooey hour of sliming around! They create slime using the Mad Science recipe and then enter the Slime Olympics! They get to take home their own concoction of Mad Science Slime! 3 Glow Show Students discover amazing things that glow bright in the dark! They probe the properties of light and explore some unusual applications of glow-in-the-dark technology! They learn to make secret messages that only they can see! 4 Detective Science Kids play detective and help crack a case! They inspect fingerprints, mystery powders, ink samples, and teeth impressions. Then, they create a composite from memory. 5 Science of Toys What makes toys work? Kids learn about motorized toys and take a spin with kinetic tops. They balance a bird to reveal its center of gravity. 6 Bugs! Kids engross themselves in entomology! They inspect authentic insect specimens. They update their insect anatomy know-how and match up insects with their habitats. 7 Earthworks Kids dig into Earth Science! They uncover rock samples and discover how they formed. They inspect fluorescing minerals, model the moving plates that cause bends and breaks, and learn how sediment stacks. 8 Lab Works Kids experience what it’s like to be real Mad Scientists in this whirlwind class on how a lab works! They learn to manipulate laboratory equipment and experiment at their personal lab bench. 9 Chem in a Flash Children hop on board the chemistry express for a high-speed science experience! They perform instantaneous experiments in this fast-paced class about split-second reactions that go like mad! 10 Junior Reactors Children create a tiny world of atoms! They learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up a few reactive ingredients for some sensational results!
  • Watercolor Pencils

    This fun visual art class focuses on creating compositions using traditional visions (portraits,landscapes, and still life) as the subject matter. Students will learn and utilize two techniques (graphite transfer and grid technique) to first develop their compositions. Semester at a Glance Week Skills Lesson/Activity 1 Tools and Styles and Foundation Overview – Art History Students will get familiar with tools and the history of watercolor. Students will learn brushstroke styles and color theory. 2 Color Theory and Techniques Students will learn color theory and learn about perspectives to develop a discerning eye. Cold press or hot press, and warm versus cool colors. Sketching techniques started. 3 Shading Still Life Students will select begin working on their still life sketch and outline. Students will learn shading, light versus dark colors and layering. 4 Landscapes and Animals and Pencil/ Charcoal Overlay Students will learn composition and balance. Students will sketch and begin their piece using animal subjects in a landscape. Students will combine both pencil/ charcoal work and watercolor overlay. 5 Salt Technique with Planets and Outerspace Students will paint planets in their third watercolor artwork. Tips on how to improve through different brush size and salt overlay/technique. 6 Glazing and Layering Techniques Students will paint an underwater scene in their fourth artwork. Tips on glazing and layering. 7 Resist and Blending Techniques Students will learn about using gum glue to allow for negative space within their fifth artwork of choice. 8 Wet on wet and Blotting Techniques Students will create their sixth work of art of any choice or subject matter for their final exhibition. Learning the wet on wet technique and applying all six techniques learned. Instructor individual feedback provided. 9 Final Artwork of Choice Students will continue to work on and complete their final artwork for student sharing. Instructor individual feedback provided. 10 Final Showcase How to photograph and document your artwork. Final exhibition with student sharing showcase and critique.
