Success Zone is the youth component of FBISD's Community Education Program.
Learning to play percussion instruments is a fun and rewarding way for students to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for music. In this engaging class, students will learn fundamental percussion techniques, rhythm patterns, and basic music skills through hands-on instruction and practice. Whether they are exploring percussion for the first time or building on existing skills, students will enjoy creating music while developing coordination, timing, and musicality. All equipment will be provided during class.
Activity: Playing a steady beat along with their own heartbeats.
Activity: Sound matching games and dynamic control (loud vs. soft shaking).
Activity: Creating "sound stories".
Activity: "Giants and Fairies" movement game based on audio cues.
Activity: Learning a simple two-note pattern (like "Starlight, Star Bright").
Activity: Call-and-response rhythm copying games.
Activity: Learning visual hand signs for "Start," "Stop," "Loud," and "Soft."
Activity: A mini-concert showcase or recording session for parents.
