Customize your own Minecraft world and mod the classic game in this one-of-a-kind class. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods. Students will create a wide variety of new elements, gameplay mechanics, and world-generating mods to change the way you play Minecraft. Projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Viewing projects at home requires the Java version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible.

Week Lesson/Activity
1 Introduction & Texture Design: Ice Breakers. Account setup and navigating MCreator. Synthesizing a plan for an Ore Pack and designing textures.
2 Building the Ore Pack Elements: Utilizing custom textures to build block and item elements within the workspace.
3 World Gen & Recipes: Modifying terrain algorithms using World Generation parameters. Generating crafting and smelting recipes.
4 Custom Biomes & Dimensions: Exploring biome mod elements. Utilizing Dimension tools to build custom realms.
5 Custom Structure Generation: Building structures in Minecraft and converting them to .NBT files. Coding structures to spawn randomly.
6 Coding Procedures & Rapid Prototyping: Coding custom food items to apply potion effects to players. Using Pack Creation tools to prototype object types.
7 Advanced Coding Math & Randomization: Utilizing built-in Math functions to control lightning positions. Generating random values using Java's Math methods.
8 The Lucky Block Mod: Setting up block elements and basic block logic outcomes. Creating random number generators to control broken block actions.
9 Loot Tables & Lucky Block Outcomes: Integrating alternative randomized outcomes via loot tables. Finalizing multiple custom code block outcomes.
10 Custom Mob Design & Final Showcase: Designing custom mob textures in BlockBench. Importing models, modifying AI behaviors, and exporting the final .JAR/.ZIP files for the parent showcase. Parent Showcase.
