  • Minecraft: Adventures in Modding

    Students will learn how to customize and enhance their Minecraft experience through creativity and coding. They’ll start by getting familiar with Minecraft basics and pixel art before diving into modding with WorldEdit, where they’ll create and edit structures using simple commands. As they progress, they’ll use MCreator to design their own custom items, blocks, ores, recipes, tools, and armor, giving their creations unique abilities. In the final stretch, they’ll bring everything together by building their very own custom biome, which they’ll showcase to parents in a final presentation. Week Skill Lesson/Activity 1 Introduction to Minecraft Students learn the basics of Minecraft and controls on the keyboard. 2 Pixel Art Students learn what pixel art is and practice art skills. 3 Introduction to Mods Part 1 Students are introduced to Minecraft modding via WorldEdit, which allows the user to create block brushes. 4 Mods Part 2 Students continue using WordEdit and the selection wand. 5 Introduction to MCreator Students get to make their very first mod with MCreator and own custom “ingot” item. 6 Blocks in MCreator Students learn how to make their own custom block and how to change its properties. 7 Final Project: Biome Students begin work on their final project, which is creating their own biome. 8 Final Project: Biome and Presentation. Students will finish up their biomes, then present their biome and other mod elements to their parents.

This introductory level food literacy program teaches simple cooking techniques, food origins, seasonal recipes, and kitchen safety while having hands-on fun! Students gain self- confidence and priceless life skills while reinforcing core academics. Each session brings a different themed syllabus. This class can accommodate nut allergies. Students of all experience levels are welcome to participate!     Begin your rise to the top of the charts with digital music production! Just like today’s top artist, you can design your own beats or remix a mashup of your favorite songs to become a digital composer and sound engineer. In this course, students will learn to produce digital music, record sound, make sound effects, and mix their own tracks. No prior music experience is necessary. Student-created soundtracks will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family. Week Lesson/Activity 1 Introduction to Soundtrap, account creation, and exploration of the Soundtrap Studio editor. Students will create a list of favorite sounds and their first looping track. 2 Exploring MIDI samples, patterns, and keys in Soundtrap. Students will create custom loop segments and a themed music track. 3 Adding effects and balancing audio in Soundtrap. Students will export their project tracks as MP3 files. Recording and importing live audio, including sound effects. 4 Recording podcasts, vocals, and SFX. Students will explore copyright and licensing basics for digital audio. 5 Free recording and composing in Soundtrap Studio. Introduction to AudioMass software and interface. 6 Importing Soundtrap audio files into AudioMass and adding/editing filters to refine audio files. 7 Completing and exporting final, remastered audio tracks from AudioMass. 8 Finalizing projects, project upload, and the "Jam Battle" activity.
