    Our IAC Cheer program will provide your participant with all the spirit, cheers, chants, jumps and dancing they can handle! We also incorporate social emotional learning or SEL activities that focus on team building, problem solving, social awareness and more! Participants will learn new skills each week and at the end of our cheer program; students will have built the confidence to put on an exciting cheerleading showcase with a full routine of the cheers, chants, jumps and dances!     Playing guitar—or any instrument—has a calming effect on the mind and body, it’s often said that music can soothe the soul. Simply listening to music has many benefits but learning to play an instrument can be even more beneficial. Playing a musical instrument is a brilliant way to express yourself and really focus on something you love. Week Skills Lesson/Activity 1 Guitar Basics Students will get familiar with the guitar and learn how to hold and tune their guitar. 2 Naming all the Parts of a Guitar Students will learn all the vocabulary and terms related to the guitar. 3 Strumming, Picking, Strings 1-6 Students will learn how to strum the guitar using their fingers/pick. 4 “Quite Guitars” and “Table Top” Students will learn how to quiet their guitar and how to place their guitar on their lap. 5 Playing Strings 1-6 Students will play along with the instructor as the instructor calls out the numbers of each individual string. 6 Song Introduction A new song will be introduced to the students along with various key stroke warmups. 7 Playing Students will play various songs. 8 Recital Day Parents will be invited to the last class to see their child’s performance.
  • Make Your First Video Game

    Our classic game design camp reimagined to include even more of what you love! Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that gives you the keys to designing your first 2D platformer game. Conceptualization, level design, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts that we’ll explore. No prior experience is necessary, just a desire to have fun! Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Week Lesson/Activity 1 Introduction to GDevelop, interface overview, and the mandatory game design document creation to plan the project. 2 Utilize the guided platformer toolkit and begin the selection process for artwork for sprites, gathering all necessary visual elements 3 Creating GDevelop accounts and copying the template. Use the sprite splitter tool to create & organize new sprites for use in the game. 4 Animating sprites (e.g., the walking animation). Assigning the new sprites to objects to display unique character actions within the game engine. 5 Scene / stage editing, customizing the level with layers/backgrounds, and modifying the player behavior parameters. 6 Cloning & editing objects for level variation. Implement advanced structure by adding functioning buttons to stage select. 7 Focus on modifying the boss stage with unique code, then working with audio, and designing title/character select scenes. 8 Finalizing the project (last chance for polish), exporting projects, final project upload, and the parent showcase.

Week Challenge name Description 1 Hot Dog Slime Inspired by the Dog Man book, students will create Evil Hog Dog Slime. Mini challenge: Vending machine - Design a unique snack that can be dispensed from a vending machine. 2 Italian Flag Ice Slime This icy slime recipe features the colors of the Italian flag. Mini challenge - Leaning Tower - Create a tower that leans against the wall. 3 Queen of Hearts Slime Create a shiny and sparkly red slime using Queen of Hearts cards. Mini challenge - Flying feather - Build the tallest structure by placing a feather on top and see how far you can blow it. 4 Bento Box Slime Make the slime based on the popular Japanese bento box slime.     Adventure Quest in Latin America is an exciting, immersive thematic unit that takes children on a vibrant cultural journey through México, Perú, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile. Throughout the unit, students explore each country’s geography, traditions, music, animals, foods, and famous landmarks while building Spanish vocabulary and practicing simple conversational structures. Through interactive games, storytelling, and movement-based activities, children experience the rich diversity of Latin America in a playful and engaging way. Each class highlights a destination, allowing students to compare cultures, celebrate unique traditions, and develop cultural awareness while strengthening language skills in a dynamic, fun, and exploratory learning environment. We offer a different thematic unit each semester so children can keep learning about different things and stay engaged while learning Spanish. Families will have access to our digital platform, where they can download songs, games, activities, guides, and the complete thematic unit book. Week Curriculum/Thematic Topic 1 Thematic Curriculum: México - Land of colors and traditions (Part 1): The students will learn about México’s unique cultural traditions and famous landmarks, will learn vocabulary related to family, food, music, celebrations, and greetings in Spanish, and will practice using these words in simple sentence structures while engaging in activities that introduce Mexican history and daily life. 2 Thematic Curriculum: México - Music, Legends, Art, and Creativity (Part 2): The students will learn about Mexican music, dance, legends, and artistic traditions, will expand their vocabulary by learning words related to animals, artwork, and cultural symbols, and will use this vocabulary in simple conversational structures as they explore Mexican storytelling, art, and movement-based activities. 3 Thematic Curriculum: Perú – Landscapes, Culture, and Inca Wonders (Part 1): The students will learn about the country of Perú, including its diverse landscapes and the ancient Inca civilization, and will learn vocabulary to describe mountains, rivers, jungles, and cultural symbols, and will use these words in simple sentence structures while discussing the significance of Machu Picchu and other important places in Perú. 4 Thematic Curriculum: Perú – Animals, Festivals, Art, and Daily Life (Part 2): The students will learn about Peruvian animals, festivals, music, and artistic traditions, and will learn vocabulary to describe animals, foods, celebrations, and dances, and will use it in simple sentence structures as they participate in activities that explore Peruvian daily life, legends, and cultural celebrations. 5 Thematic Curriculum: Argentina – Landmarks, and Gaucho Culture (Part 1): The students will learn about Argentina’s cultural traditions such as tango and gaucho life, and will learn vocabulary to describe dances, traditions, landmarks, and cultural symbols, and will use it in simple sentence structures while discussing important places and cultural practices found throughout Argentina. 6 Thematic Curriculum: Argentina – Sports, Weather, Patagonia, and Everyday Traditions (Part 2): The students will learn about Argentine sports, foods, and the landscapes of Patagonia, and will learn vocabulary to describe weather, seasons, sports, and foods, and will use it in simple sentence structures while discussing how climate and daily traditions vary across different regions of Argentina. 7 Thematic Curriculum: Colombia – Biodiversity, Culture, and Daily Life (Part 1): The students will learn about Colombia’s diverse landscapes and animals, and will learn vocabulary to describe wildlife, food, and daily life in Colombia and learn to use it in simple sentence structures, and will discuss how Colombia’s different regions—from the Amazon rainforest to the Caribbean coast—offer unique cultural and natural experiences. 8 Review; final showcase.
